William Thackeray’s intricate portrait of 19th century British society, now freshly repackaged for the Union Square & Co. Signature Editions line

Set against the backdrop of the Napoleonic Wars, Vanity Fair, follows the life of Becky Sharp, a cunning orphan determined to rise through the ranks in high society, and her friend Amelia Sedley, a naive and kind-hearted daughter of a wealthy family. Following the interlinked lives of Amelia and Becky, the novel explores the complexities of human nature through the trial and tribulations of its characters. In this satirical critique of 19th century British society, the battle for success is just as cruel as the battle of Waterloo.
