About the Author

Thanks to her more than 20 years writing and editing nonfiction for children, Rachel Buccholz can tell you everything there is to know about White House ghosts, skateboarding dogs, panda poop, and lady pirates. She’s the editorial director of Scouting America, the former editorial director of Nat Geo Kids Magazines and Digital, and the author of several books, including the 2027 TIME for Kids Almanac and Children’s Choice nominated How to Survive Anything: Shark Attacks, Lightning, Embarrassing Parents, Pop Quizzes, and Other Perilous Situations. After more than two decades in Washington, D.C., Rachel and her husband are back in her home state of Texas, where she’s shamelessly trying to eat as many tacos as possible.

Matthew Taylor Wilson is an illustrator and designer based in Kentucky, where he lives with his wife, two children and four delightfully neurotic dogs. Born and raised in the United States, Matthew’s creative roots run deep, shaped by a lifelong love of picture books, classic monster/sci-fi movies, and fantasy novels. He began his career in graphic design and gradually moved towards a more playful, illustration-focused practice. Over the past two decades, he has brought his distinctive style to a wide range of projects, including book covers, advertising campaigns, logos, and countless other commercial works, often featuring his trademark monsters, spooky trees, and hand-drawn lettering.
