Traci Sorell

About the Author

Traci Sorell is a two-time Sibert Medal and Orbis Pictus honoree, as well as a recipient of the Boston Globe-Horn Book Honor and the Jane Addams Children’s Book Honor Award. Eight of her books have received awards from the American Indian Library Association. A former federal Indigenous law attorney and policy advocate, Traci is a Cherokee Nation citizen and first-generation college graduate. She lives within her tribe’s reservation in northeastern Oklahoma. Learn more at tracisorell.com.

Natasha Donovan is a Métis & white illustrator originally from Vancouver, Canada, with a focus on comics and children’s illustration. Her many books include When the Stars Came Home by Brittany Luby, the Surviving the City graphic novel series by Tasha Spillett, and Classified: The Secret Career of Mary Golda Ross, Cherokee Aerospace Engineer by Traci Sorell, which won an American Indian Library Association Youth Literature Award Honor. Natasha lives on an island in British Columbia. About the Illustrator

Natasha Donovan is a Métis illustrator with a focus on comics and children’s illustration. She has illustrated several award-winning children’s books including The Sockeye Mother by Brett Huson and the graphic novel Surviving the City by Tasha Spillett-Sumner. She has a degree in Anthropology from the University of British Columbia, and has worked in academic and magazine publishing. She currently lives in Bellingham, Washington.
