Experience a new audio version of Octavia E. Butler’s groundbreaking, genre-redefining masterpiece, selected by The Atlantic as one of the “most consequential novels of the past 100 years.”

In 1976, on her 26th birthday, Dana Franklin is pulled through time and space from her Los Angeles home to a slave plantation in Maryland, 160 years in the past. There, she discovers she is intimately linked to a young white boy, her ancestor, without whom Dana will never be born.

While only a year passes in Dana’s Los Angeles life, her trips to the past, to Rufus, take place over several years, in which she endures life as a slave while forced to protect Rufus’s many near-death experiences to preserve her own future.

Blending the historical with the speculative and the factual with the fantastical, Kindred is a chilling excavation of chattel slavery in America, told in Butler’s stark and evocative style.

This exciting new audio edition is narrated by award-winning actress CCH Pounder, who has appeared most recently in James Cameron’s AVATAR: FIRE AND ASH and Paramount Pictures’ THE NAKED GUN as well as the Netflix film, RUSTIN, the Max series, FULL CIRCLE, the Netflix series, 3 BODY PROBLEM, Hulu’s BLACK CAKE and AVATAR: THE WAY OF WATER
