Bloodsick

Deliciously smart and blissfully mean. As entertaining as it is insightful, Bloodsick is an absolute blockbuster of a contemporary vampire novel. A page-turning, action-packed, bloody good time.

I’ve never had such a good time with such an utterly disgusting bloodbath. Cesare really knows how to push it, and I’m jealous of all the horror-hungry teens who get to have this on their bookshelves at just the right time in their life. What a blast. 

Adam Cesare's Bloodsick is a high-octane thrill ride, a blood-soaked, gore-drenched, propulsive read that begins in high gear and never slows down. When an ancient vampire awakens outside contemporary Boston and brings his sinister gift to a pair of siblings who run the local high school's party house, he sets in motion a chain of events that swiftly encompasses the rest of the school, from students to teachers to coaches to janitors, from athletes to outcasts.  As the contagion spreads, the number of people able to do anything about it shrinks perilously.  The brood of vampires, in the meantime, grows increasingly restless under the sway of their ancient master.  Nuanced characters give emotional heft to the novel's carnage, while Cesare's graceful style lends even the most gruesome events an odd beauty.  Slide this book onto the shelf next to I Am Legend, Salem's Lot, and They Thirst, and keep Interview with the Vampire close, too.  Adam Cesare has opened his mouth, and showed us his fangs.
