About Moon Travel Guides

Founded in 1973, Moon was one of the first advocates of independent travel. Moon started with guides to Asia and has become the premier publisher of guides to the Americas. Our authors are experts who have a passion for their destinations—they are women and men who are politically and culturally minded, informative, adventurous, inspiring, and have great stories to tell. They experience activities and destinations the same way our readers do—firsthand—making it possible for Moon to deliver up-to-date, reliable, and entertaining information.

All recommendations, including those for sights, activities, hotels, and restaurants, and shops, are based on each author’s individual judgment. We do not accept payment for inclusion in our travel guides, and our authors don’t accept free goods or services in exchange for positive coverage.

Moon authors frequently revisit all of the places they cover to keep our travel guides current. Inevitably, some of the details may change: Businesses will open or close, and prices can go up (or down). If you see anything that needs to be updated, clarified, or corrected, drop us a line at feedback@moon.com.

Although every effort was made to ensure that the information was correct at the time of going to press, the author and publisher do not assume and hereby disclaim any liability to any party for any loss or damage caused by errors, omissions, or any potential travel disruption due to labor or financial difficulty, whether such errors or omissions result from negligence, accident, or any other cause.

Based in Berkeley, California, Moon is published by Avalon Travel. Avalon Travel is an imprint of Perseus Books, a Hachette Book Group company.
