HBG Big News This Week: November 6-10, 2017

Following is a recap of major news at Hachette Book Group for the week of November 6-10, 2017:

Bestsellers: HBG has 13 titles on the New York Times Bestseller list dated November 19, including one #1— Two Kinds of Truth by Michael Connelly (Little, Brown and Company) debuts at #1 on the Combined Print & E-Book Bestsellers (Fiction) list. HBG’s distribution clients have seven titles on the list this week, including one #1 – Basketball (And Other Things) by Shea Serrano (Abrams) at the #1 position on the Sports & Fitness Bestsellers (Monthly) list. HBG also has 13 titles on the USA Today bestseller list dated November 9, including Connelly’s Two Kinds of Truth in the #1 slot! 

Amazon’s Top 20 of 2017: Amazon released their big annual Best Books of the Year package, and two HBG books make the Top 20 – Sherman Alexie’s You Don’t Have To Say You Love Me (Little, Brown and Company) and The Lost City of the Monkey God by Douglas Preston (Grand Central Publishing).

World Fantasy Award: The Orbit division is celebrating its first World Fantasy Award/Best Novel win this week, with Claire North’s The Sudden Appearance of Hope (Redhook).

Business Book of the Year: Two PublicAffairs titles have been longlisted for the 800-CEO-READ Business Book of the Year Award – The Loyalist Team: How Trust, Candor, and Authenticity Create Great Organizations by Linda Adams, Abby Curnow-Chavez, Audrey Epstein, and Rebecca Teasdale (Management & Workplace Culture category), and The Mathematical Corporation: Where Machine Intelligence and Human Ingenuity Achieve the Impossible by Josh Sullivan and Angela Zutavern (Leadership and Strategy category). Shortlist to be announced December 5, and winner on January 18.

Amazon #1 Kids Pick: Jessica Townsend’s Nevermoor: The Trials of Morrigan Crow (Little, Brown Books for Young Readers) was selected by Amazon as the #1 Children’s Book for 2017.
