In this 1906 sequel to an 1883 work, The Theories of Darwin, a noted theologian tries to mediate the “loud conflict” between Science and Christianity, or Religion and Culture. In this plea for understanding, the author declares that there really is perfect peace between the two factions.

About the Author

Rudolf Schmid (1828-1907) received his Doctor of Divinity degree from the Protestant Theological Faculty at the University of Tübingen, Germany, in 1897. He believed that harmony exists between religion and science—“Truth can only be One”—and that contradictions result only when one or the other oversteps its boundaries.
