After spending half a century focused on Greek and Latin scholarship, the author shares his experiences and opinions on such translation subjects as fidelity, misrepresentation, translations posing as originals, sham originals, “libertine” translations, translation of verse and prose, and many more. Includes examples from Horace, Plato, Martial, Milton, and Shakespeare.
