Ruben Reyes Jr. acquires for the Basic Books, Seal Press, and PublicAffairs lists, primarily in history and politics. He is particularly interested in projects about Latin America and its diaspora. Before joining Basic, he was at Flatiron Books, where he worked on a range of nonfiction titles, including the New York Times bestseller Pageboy by Elliot Page, The Cycle by Shalene Gupta, and Julissa Arce’s You Sound Like a White Girl. He studied history and literature at Harvard College and holds an MFA from the Iowa Writers’ Workshop. He is the author of the books There Is a Rio Grande in Heaven and Archive of Unknown Universes.
