KERRY RUBENSTEIN

Kerry joined Da Capo as a cover and jacket designer in 2016 after receiving her B.F.A in Graphic Design from Northeastern University. During her time at Northeastern, Kerry was a designer for Scout, Northeastern's student-led graphic design studio, and was the recipient of the Meserve Award for Creative Excellence. Kerry has held internships at Penguin Books, Sam Adams, and Boston Common Press.

Dan joined Da Capo in 2012. His list of nonfiction titles focuses on health and wellness, fitness, parenting, business, sports, and personal growth, but he also acquires select memoirs and narrative nonfiction. Among his books are the New York Times bestseller Discover Your Optimal Health by Dr. Wayne Scott Andersen and The Mayo Clinic Guide to Stress-Free Living by Amit Sood, MD. Dan began his publishing career in 1997 at Warner Books before moving on to roles as a literary agent at Vigliano Associates and an editor at Wiley. In his career, he has published everything from training guides for triathletes to a bestselling business book memorably entitled Working with You Is Killing Me.
FRED FRANCIS
MANAGING EDITOR
Fred has served as managing editor since 2003, playing a key role in production, legal, and general organizational and planning matters for Da Capo as well as in the process through which new books are acquired. He is also a crucial link for Da Capo and Perseus in their strategic partnership with Weinstein Books. Fred started his career at Taylor Trade Publishing in 1998, acquiring and editing nonfiction titles. He later worked as a production editor for Perseus before assuming his current role. Fred has also taught a graduate-level course in book editing as part of Emerson College’s publishing program.

ASSOCIATE EDITOR
Claire joined Da Capo in 2013. She acquires and edits books in a range of categories, including health, wellness, food and nutrition, parenting, business, and self-help. (A foodie and home cook, she’s also been known to moonlight as a recipe tester for her upcoming cookbooks.) Claire loves books with inspiring but accessible messages and books that meld wellness with a lifestyle element. Before Da Capo, Claire worked on digital learning solutions at Cengage.
MERLOYD LAWRENCE

After working as a translator, Merloyd became an editor with Dell/Delacorte, Addison-Wesley, and the Perseus Books Group. Since 1980 she has published nonfiction under her imprint, Merloyd Lawrence Books, including the work of Robert Coles, Dr. T. Berry Brazelton, Joseph Lash, John Holt, Sissela Bok, the Swedish photographer Lennart Nilsson (A Child Is Born), Dr. Susan Love, Ellen Langer, and Esmeralda Santiago. More recently she has sought out writers on the environment and animals, including biologist/poet Sandra Steingraber (Living Downstream) and activist/lawyer Steven M. Wise (Rattling the Cage)—both subjects she describes as of great interest to her “outside of my day job.”

Since joining Da Capo Press in 2001, Bob has been acquiring books primarily in the categories of history, military history, and biography. At Da Capo, he has worked with a number of bestselling and award-winning authors, including Alex Kershaw (Bedford Boys and Longest Winter), Patrick K. O’Donnell (We Were One and Dog Company), Harlow Giles Unger (Last Founding Father and John Quincy Adams), Thomas Fleming (A Disease in the Public Mind), Stephen Harding (The Last Battle), Steve Fainaru (Big Boy Rules), and Stephen Tanner (Afghanistan). Prior to his Da Capo tenure, he was president and publisher of Combined Publishing, a small press specializing in military history, and was adjunct professor of history at Villanova University.

Miriam joined Da Capo in 2015 after receiving her B.A. in Writing, Literature, and Publishing from Emerson College. During her time at Emerson, Miriam was on staff at the Emerson Review, Emerson's oldest literary publication, and served as both an editor and writer for the student-run Atlas Magazine, which was nominated for Outstanding Print Publication in the spring of 2015. Miriam has held internships at Da Capo Press, Harvard Business Review, and Where Los Angeles.

Ben has been an editor at Da Capo since 2002 and specializes in music, popular culture, biography, memoir, and popular science, with a particular soft spot for American counterculture. At Da Capo he has acquired several New York Times bestsellers, including The Portable Atheist edited by Christopher Hitchens, Iron Man by Tony Iommi, and Seven Deadly Sins by Corey Taylor. He is also the editor of the international bestseller Why Does E=mc2 by Brian Cox and Jeff Forshaw and The Mayor of MacDougal Street by Dave Van Ronk with Elijah Wald, the inspiration for the Coen Brothers movie Inside Llewyn Davis. Prior to Da Capo, Ben held editorial positions at William Morrow and HarperCollins.

Renée joined Da Capo in 2007. She acquires and edits in a wide range of categories, including wellness, health, fitness, diet and nutrition, and self-help. Particularly keen on healthy food and cooking, she has worked with many of Da Capo’s award-winning vegan and raw-food authors, among them Brendan Brazier, Mayim Bialik, Ani Phyo, Bryant Terry, and Terry Hope Romero. Renée also acquires works of narrative nonfiction such as River Monsters, based on the hit Animal Planet show, and Peter Trachtenberg’s Another Insane Devotion: On the Love of Cats and Persons. Prior to Da Capo, Renée held editorial positions with Marlowe & Company and HarperCollins.
MICHAEL GIARRATANO
PUBLICITY MANAGER
Mike joined Da Capo Press in 2016 after spending three years as a publicist at Harvard University Press, where he focused on works in the sciences, humanities, and social sciences. He graduated from Boston College before working as a bookseller, manager, and event coordinator at Politics and Prose in Washington, D.C., where he organized over 3,000 author events in six years. He is actively involved with both the Boston Book Festival and Wisconsin Book Festival.
RAQUEL HITT
ASSOCIATE PUBLICIST
Raquel joined Da Capo after three years in the non-profit sector, where she specialized in event planning, publicity, and social media. At the Boston Synagogue, she doubled attendance and participation of their 20s and 30s community and tripled their program offerings. At 826, a nationwide youth writing program, she recruited volunteers and donors through targeted outreach and events. She will complete her Masters in Writing and Publishing from Emerson College in May 2015, and teaches in their first year writing program.
JOHN RADZIEWICZ

John has been publisher of Da Capo since the company joined Perseus in 1999. During that time Da Capo’s list has grown to some eighty titles annually, both hardcovers and paperbacks, in categories ranging from history, the performing arts, and pop culture to wellness, self-help, and healthy cooking. An editor by background, John has acquired hundreds of books in the course of his three decades in publishing, including works by the Nobel laureate Czeslaw Milosz, the Pulitzer Prize winner Mary Oliver, and the eminent scientist Richard Dawkins. At Da Capo he has edited books by the bestselling authors Toby Young and Gordon Livingston. John previously worked at Harcourt Brace and Houghton Mifflin.
