Brian J. Distelberg joined Basic Books in 2015 and oversees the editorial direction of the Basic Books, Basic Venture, PublicAffairs, and Seal Press imprints. He has acquired multiple New York Times bestselling and Pulitzer Prize–winning books, as well as winners of and finalists for the Los Angeles Times Book Prize, the RFK Book Award, the National Book Critics Circle Award, the Wolfson History Prize, the Cundill History Prize, and the National Jewish Book Award. Notable titles include Brad DeLong’s Slouching Towards Utopia, Jonathan Metzl’s Dying of Whiteness, Martha Jones’s Vanguard, Jefferson Cowie’s Freedom’s Dominion, Jacqueline Jones’s No Right to an Honest Living, Alvin E.
