HBG Big News This Week: May 20-24, 2019

Following is a recap of major news at Hachette Book Group for the week of May 20-24, 2019:

Bestseller news: New to the New York Times bestseller list this week is Full Count by David Cone & Jack Curry (GCP), debuting at #13 on the Print Hardcover (Nonfiction) bestseller list. HBG has 13 books on the NYT list and our distribution clients have five books on the list this week.
HBG and Book Rich Environments: HBG is proud to support the National Book Foundation’s Book Rich Environments (BRE) Program, which combats lack of literary access, often termed “book deserts.” BRE has provided over one million free books to families living in public housing authorities, thanks to HBG’s book contributions along with those of other major publishers. LBYR and Jumpstart: LBYR is partnering with Jumpstart’s Read for the Record in the “world’s largest shared reading experience.” Oge Mora’s award-winning Thank You, Omu! has been named the official book selection for the 2019 Read for the Record campaign, a global effort focused on building early literacy and language skills so that all children have the opportunity to enter kindergarten prepared to succeed. Over the last 25 years, Jumpstart has transformed the lives of more than 123,000 children across the country with the help of more than 50,000 college student and community volunteers.
