HBG Big News This Week: January 22-26, 2018

Following is a recap of major news at Hachette Book Group for the week of January 22-26, 2018:

Bestsellers: HBG has 16 titles on the New York Times Bestseller list dated February 4, including one #1—City of Endless Night by Douglas Preston and Lincoln Child (GCP) debuted at #1 on the Combined Print & Ebook (Fiction) list. HBG’s distribution clients have four titles on the list this week. HBG also has 11 titles on the USA Today bestseller list—see the full list here.

PEN Literary Awards: PEN America announced the finalists for their 2018 PEN Literary Awards this week, and Hachette Books has two nominees: Ron Powers’ No One Cares About Crazy People is a nominee for the PEN/E.O. Wilson Prize for Literary Science Writing, and A Moonless, Starless Sky by Alexis Okeowo is a finalist in the PEN Open Book Award. Edgar Awards: In addition to Mulholland’s previously mentioned Edgar Awards nominees, The Dime and Bluebird, Bluebird, they have a finalist in the Best Paperback Original category: Penance by Kanae Minato. The winners will be announced on April 26. See the complete list of nominees here.

Barry Awards: Quercus received two nominations for the 2018 Barry Awards: K. J. Howe’s The Freedom Broker in the Best Thriller category and H.B. Lyle’s The Irregular in the Best First Novel category. The Barry Awards are crime literary awards given annually since 1997 by the editors of Deadly Pleasures, an American quarterly publication for crime fiction readers.
