HBG Big News This Week: December 4-8, 2017

Following is a recap of major news at Hachette Book Group for the week of December 4-8, 2017:

New York Times Bestsellers: HBG has 16 titles on the New York Times Bestseller list dated December 17, including one #1—The Night Before Christmas by Clement C. Moore (LB; Running Press; Various Publishers) stays at the #1 position on the Children’s Bestsellers (Picture Books) list. HBG’s distribution clients have seven titles on the list this week, including one at #1—Diary of a Wimpy Kid by Jeff Kinney (Amulet) tops the Children’s Bestsellers (Series) list.

USA Today Bestsellers: HBG has 13 titles on the USA Today bestseller list, see the full list here.

Patterson and Einstein: This week the Associated Press announced the publication of a new middle-grade series by James Patterson and authorized by the Albert Einstein Archives—the only children’s series to be licensed by the Archives and bear its official seal. The first title in the three-book deal will debut in October 2018. The announcement has been picked up thus far by the New York Times,the Washington PostVariety and many other venues.

Big launch: Neil Patrick Harris kicked off his tour this week for The Magical Misfits (LBYR) with appearances on Good Morning America, The TODAY Show, and Ellen, and did a turn as guest host on Jimmy Kimmel Live! (check out his opening here), as well as Sirius XM Radio’s Entertainment Weekly/Off the Books and Kids Place Live, and a special event at Symphony Space.

800-CEO-READ Shortlist: The shortlist was announced this week for 800-CEO-READ’s 11th annual Business Book Awards, and it includesBlue Ocean Shift: Beyond Competing – Proven Steps to Inspire Confidence and Seize New Growth by W.
