Professor Tess O’Toole, PhD

Emily Brontё was born in Yorkshire, England, in 1818. With her sisters, Charlotte and Anne, she published the pseudonymous Poems by Currer, Ellis, and Acton Bell in 1846. Wuthering Heights, Emily’s only novel, was published in 1847 under the name Ellis Bell. In fragile health for much of her life, she died in 1848.
