Francis Galton

About the Author

Sir Francis Galton (1822-1911) was best known for his still-controversial theories of eugenics—a term which he coined, along with the phrase “nature versus nurture.” A cousin of Charles Darwin, Galton published over 340 books and papers. He developed a fingerprinting technique and did pioneering work in genetics, psychology, meteorology, statistics—and even what is known today as crowdsourcing.
