The appointment was made by Richard Kitson, Hachette Book Group Deputy Chief Executive Officer, to whom Koons will report. In this role, she will oversee and manage the Subsidiary Rights division within Hachette Book Group. This position is responsible for maximizing revenue through the sale of rights, including foreign language translation, audio, film, and television adaptations. She understands the huge opportunities for our books across global markets and has a proven ability to lead teams with clarity and creativity. I know that everyone at Hachette is excited about working with her. Abby’s expertise in subsidiary rights, strong relationships with authors and agents, and love of publishing make her ideally suited to advance our mission of making it easy for everyone to discover new worlds of ideas, entertainment, learning, and opportunity.”

Koons’ expertise spans the full spectrum of publishing operations, from negotiating complex multi-territory deals to collaborating with global publishers across their editorial, sales, publicity, marketing, and legal departments. She has extensive experience working with publishing partners around the world on a range of formats and languages with the express goal of maximizing an author’s reach and finding new consumers for their work.

“I am delighted to join Hachette at such a dynamic and transformative period of growth for the company.
