Michelle Howry, Editorial Director

I oversee the Spark imprint at Little, Brown – books that focus on ways to live a healthier, wiser, more inspired life. I’ve been a nonfiction editor for more than 25 years, and I am proud to have recently published authors such as Hoda Kotb(author of the #1 New York Times bestseller I Really Needed This Today), Eve Rodsky (whose paradigm-shifting book Fair Play was a Reese Witherspoon Book Club pick), Dr. Marisa Franco (author of the instant New York Times bestseller Platonic, dubbed by the Wall Street Journal “an ode to modern friendship”), and Dr. Ingrid Clayton(whose Fawning sold in 21 countries worldwide). I’ve also worked on popular books by Jancee DunnMichele BorbaJon Kabat ZinnMarshall GoldsmithSheinelle JonesTovah KleinNeha RuchMelinda Wenner MoyerDanielle FriedmanJamie GlowackiAlden WickerAlexandra RobbinsEamon DolanNikita GillDominique MoceanuLaurence LeamerMatt SingerDenise Kiernan, and many, many others.

I’m so happy to be here at Spark, where we publish enduring books by category leaders in the nonfiction space, including Mark Hyman (Young ForeverFood Fix), Tricia Hersey (Rest Is Resistance), Daniel Kahneman (Noise), Amy Cuddy(Presence), David Perlmutter (Grain Brain), Sue Johnson (Hold Me Tight), Walter Mischel (The Marshmallow Test), and Marie Kondo (Joy at Work). In the months and years ahead, I’m particularly eager to bring even more new authors and ideas onto this list, in categories like health (mental, physical, spiritual), personal developmentparenting / family lifespirituality, the natural world and the occasional narrative ormemoir … from authors who inform and inspire, and maybe even give us a new way to talk about the things we care about most. I’ve always believed that that editing nonfiction is like getting a master class from the smartest experts out there – and I’m looking for new writers to learn from!
