Dedication
To the love of knowledge, change, our future,
and the possibilities that the Internet holds for all
Acknowledgments
Putting a book together requires many expressions of
appreciation. I do this with great joy, as there are several
people who
have played vital roles in the process:
My wife, Denice, who has been patient with me while I have
spent untold hours on the Internet.
My kids, Alissa and Josh, whom I love dearly and who have become
Internet aficionados.
Paul Joffe and Janet Bolton of TBI Creative Services,
for keeping me focused.
Mark Krasner and Janice Caselli for sharing my vision of
the Incredible Internet books and helping make it a reality.
My good friend and mentor Lenny Barkan, who has helped push the vision to another level.
The multitude of great people who have encouraged and assisted me via e-mail.
How to Use This Book
Tremendous thought and research have gone into the writing of this book. What is the best way to use it? You may be familiar with some of the sites, however, you have probably never been to an overwhelming majority of them. Our recommendation is to use the book in any combination of the following ways:
- Scan the pages randomly, identify sites that intrigue you, and make sure you mark them.
- Read the Contents and become familiar with the subject areas covered.
- Read through the Index of Site Numbers and discover many subjects that you might need now or in the future.
- Make this book your resource guide to the Internet. When you need to find a particular type of information, refer to the subject areas covered.
- When you have leisure time, pick up the book and check out some of the sites. You'll find that the ones we take you to can lead to thousands of others that are also useful and incredible.
Introduction
To be incredible, a site must meet our vowel criteria: A, E, I, O, U. You'll find the sites in this book to be either ACTIVE, ENTERTAINING, INTERACTIVE, OBJECTIVE, or USEFUL. With over two billion Web pages, the Internet can be difficult to navigate. Our goal has been to filter out the clutter so you can spend your precious time productively. The Net is a huge encyclopedia, and we have organized this book in an A to Z format for you. Enjoy your journey as you discover the needles in the Internet haystack.
