Horace Newton Allen

About the Author

Horace Newton Allen (1858–1932) was an American diplomat, missionary, and physician, born in Delaware, Ohio. He served as the US Ambassador to Korea from 1897 to 1905, and is known for introducing Western medicine to Korea. As an author, he wrote several books that introduced Korean culture, folklore, and history to the Western world including Korean Tales (1889) and Things Korean (1908).
