Build Your Own Quiet Nest
If you’re an introvert like me, sometimes all you need is a cozy place to snuggle up for a bit of peace. In celebration of Airlie Anderson’s ONLY, I built my very own Quiet Nest!
Want to create your own Quiet Nest? Follow along and I’ll show you what to do!
Materials:
- Beanbag
- Pillows
- Blanket
- Your favorite plush
- Sound machine
- A good book
Step 1: Find your most coziest corner.
Step 2: Lay out the beanbag.
If you don’t have a beanbag, that’s totally fine! You can just set out extra pillows.
Step 3: Pop in as many pillows as you’d like.
The bigger the pillows the better, in my opinion!
*Don’t forget to give your pillow a chop for extra floofiness!
Step 4: Toss in a blanket!
I chose my favorite quilt.
Step 5: Grab your favorite plush!
I brought along my weighted goose. He can be heated up in the microwave for extra warmth.
Step 6: Turn on your sound machine.
I got mine off Amazon and it has a number of sounds to choose from. I set mine to chirping birds which was perfect for the occasion!
Step 7: Last (but absolutely most important) grab something good to read!
Obviously I picked Only, which is such a sweet, calming picture book that spoke to my heart.
If you’re looking for the perfect storytime for your quiet kid, pick up a copy of Only by Airlie Anderson!
Only likes quiet time, and they definitely like being alone. All the other birds are too loud and too rough! Only decides to create a peaceful space that’s just for them, but when a friend shows up wanting to try some quiet time too, the two birds must figure out a way to be sure no one feels left out.
In this companion title to Neither, Airlie Anderson shows readers that it’s okay to sometimes be noisy, to sometimes be quiet, to sometimes be together, and to sometimes be alone—as long as no one is made to feel lonely.
