Kristen R. Ghodsee is the Catherine Bryson Professor of Russian and East European Studies at the University of Pennsylvania and author of nine books on gender, socialism, and post-socialism in Eastern Europe. Ghodsee’s writing has been published in The Washington Post, The New York Times, El País, and Le Monde Diplomatique, among other outlets. She lives outside Philadelphia.
