Thomas Spence joined Basic Books in 2024 as the founding editor of the Basic Liberty imprint. After running his own publishing house for fifteen years, he worked at Regnery as an editor and then as the publisher. The authors he has worked with include Yoram Hazony, David Horowitz, George Gilder, Abigail Shrier, Robert P. George, Hadley Arkes, Anthony Esolen, R. R. Reno, Jay Richards, Amul Thapar, and Catherine Pakaluk. He is based in Washington, D.C.
