HBG Big News This Week: March 5-9, 2018

Bestsellers: HBG has 15 titles on the New York Times Bestseller list dated March 11, including one #1—All American-Murder by James Patterson and Alex Abramovich with Mike Harvkey (Little, Brown) holds onto the #1 position on the Sports and Fitness (Monthly) list. Diamond Dagger for Connelly: Michael Connelly will be given the Crime Writers’ Association’s 2018 Diamond Dagger award, the highest honor in British crime writing. The Dagger award recognizes authors whose crime writing careers have been “marked by sustained excellence, and who have made a significant contribution to the genre.” Previous winners of the CWA Diamond Dagger include P. D. James, John le Carré, Dick Francis, Ruth Rendell, and Lee Child.

MAJOR acquisition: GCP has acquired five new novels by #1 bestseller Harlan Coben. The first book, Run Away, will be published in hardcover and e-book editions in March 2019. For more details, read the attached press release.

Media blitz: Michael Isikoff & David Corn’s Russian Roulette: The Inside Story of Putin’s War on America and the Election of Donald Trump (Twelve) goes on sale next week with a blockbuster publicity campaign—an excerpt posted on both Mother Jones and Yahoo!, appearances on MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow, Hardball, Morning Joe, Live with Katie Tur, All in with Chris Hayes, Deadline with Nicole Wallace, and The Last Word with Lawrence O’Donnell; CNN’s Jake Tapper, AC 360, and Across America with Carol Costello; CBS This Morning; NPR’s Fresh Air, several highly popular podcasts, and reviews to come in the New York Times, Washington Post, and Associated Press.

Lambda Award: Hida Viloria’s memoir Born Both (Hachette Books) is a finalist for a Lambda Literary Award in the LGBTQ Nonfiction category. The awards identify and celebrate the best lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender books of the year and affirm that LGBTQ stories are part of the literature of the world.
