  About The Book

Now with a new introduction by the author, Sacred Hoops is an inside look at the higher wisdom of teamwork from former Chicago Bulls and current LA Lakers' head coach Phil Jackson.

"Not only is there more to life than basketball, there's a lot more to basketball than basketball." --Phil Jackson

In this thought-provoking memoir, filled with stories about Michael Jordan, Scottie Pippen, Toni Kukoc, and other members of the Bulls, one of the most successful coaches in NBA history, Phil Jackson, reveals how he directs his players to act with a clear mind-not thinking, just doing; to respect the enemy and be aggressive without anger or violence; to live in the moment and stay calmly focused in the midst of chaos, so that the "me" becomes the servant of the "we." This inspiring book takes you inside the mind of the thinking man's coach as he builds on of the greatest teams of all time and deals with the inevitable cycle of change, including Jordan's unexpected return to basketball. Sacred Hoops is not just for sports fans, but for anyone interested in the potential of the human spirit.

  Praise

"Sacred Hoops is as deep and clear and pure an expression of the power of mindfulness and compassion in action as any I have ever encountered." —Jon Kabat-Zinn, author of Wherever You Go, There You Are

"The perfect antidote to the win-at-any-cost mentality of professional sports, Sacred Hoops reveals the spiritual ground from which Jordan flies and suggests way we might all soar with similar grace." Interview
