The Hiccup series is being rebranded and given a great new look! In January 2010, to coincide with the Dreamworks movie, Hiccup's first three adventures will be relaunched under the series name How to Train Your Dragon. To follow, beginning in April, Books 4-6 will be released once a month leading up to the launch of a new hardcover in July.
Each paperback will be given a new title to match the updated series branding and the books will be repackaged with new cover art to be more consistent across the series. They will also feature a different dragon breed on each of their back covers.
Book 1, How to Train Your Dragon, is a very funny adventure story about a Viking boy named Hiccup Horrendous Haddock III and how he finds a dragon, trains it and, with its help, manages to subdue two enormous monstrous Sea Dragons. In doing so, he also conquers his bullies and gains the respect of his family and friends. A fast paced plot, slapstick humor, witty dialogue and imaginative black and white illustrations enhance this exciting tale.
"Short chapters, clever slapstick, kid-pleasing character names and goofy, childlike drawings will keep even reluctant readers turning these pages--and chuckling as they go."
"A narrative rich in dragon muck... genuinely fierce [and] intelligent."
Cressida Cowell grew up in London and on a small, uninhabited island off the west coast of Scotland, where she spent her time writing stories, fishing for things to eat, and exploring the island looking for dragons. She was convinced that there were dragons living on the island and has been fascinated by them ever since.
