There were no surprises in Gatlin County. We were pretty much the epicenter of the middle of nowhere. At least, that's what I thought. Turns out, I couldn't have been more wrong. There was a curse. There was a girl. ... more

Our Hip Scouts review Beautiful Creatures:
I absolutely LOVED Beautiful Creatures. I thought that it had a great story line, and I'm excited to look for the sequel. It kept me interested throughout the whole book, and despite its length, it was a pretty quick read. Beautiful Creatures was the sort of book that made me want to hide under my covers and finish it by flashlight at 3am.

This book was awesome. Hands down. It was fun, adventurous, and NOT filled with vampires. When I first saw the size of the book, I got nervous it was going to be page after page of mush. But I was completely wrong. I sped through it, and it satisfied my hunger for the extraordinary. My satisfaction has worn off, however, and I am yet again hungry for more (sequel??). Lena is the girl every wants to be deep down inside, and Ethan is the boy whom everyone wants to date.

This is one of those books that you just can't wait to read, and once you've started, can't seem to put down. The plot was so creative and different than most books with witches, mortals and other magical creatures. The best part about it, however, was the love story. Their relationship just seemed real, not like those crushes you read about in most books where the characters fret over whether or not the other likes him/her back. Overall, the setting, the plot and the characters where amazing. I'd recommend this to almost about anyone.
