Before Purchasing eBooks

    What operating system/devices do the ebooks work on?

    • Adobe ebooks can be read on Windows & Macintosh desktops and the Sony Reader Digital Book device. Please see this page for a complete list of system requirements and devices supported.
    • eReader ebooks can be read on Windows & Macintosh desktops and multiple mobile devices. Please see this for a complete list and further information.
  • What software do I need to download prior to purchasing an ebook?

    • To read Adobe ebooks, you’ll need to download the Adobe Digital Editions software.
    • To read eReader ebooks, you’ll need to download the eReader software.  
  • Do the ebooks have DRM (Digital Rights Management)?

    We wrap our ebooks with DRM.  The Adobe ebook has the Adobe DRM, and the eReader ebook has the eReader DRM.
  • Can I read my eBook on my iPhone?

    The Stanza reader for the iPhone will accept the eReader format (.pdb). For more information, see http://www.lexcycle.com/faq#3n619

Purchasing eBooks

  • How do I purchase an ebook?

    Under the cover image of a title that is available for sale, you’ll see the phrase "Buy Now".  Select from the drop down the format you would like to purchase.  This will add the title to your shopping cart.  At this point you can continue to shop or proceed to checkout.
  • What credit cards do you accept?

    We accept MasterCard and Visa.
  • What ebook formats do you sell?

    We sell Adobe ebook and eReader ebook formats. You’ll need to download free software to download the files.  Click on this link for Adobe .  For eReader, click on this link
  • Do you sell physical books or audio books?

    We currently only sell ebooks.  To find an online retailer or book store near you, please click on the “buy from bookseller” button found on every book page.
  • Can I purchase ebooks internationally?

    Currently we only sell in the US and Canada.
  • Do you charge tax ?

    We charge the appropriate tax based on local, state, and federal law.
  • Do you charge shipping?

    We do not charge shipping for digital product.
  • I put an item in my shopping cart, but it’s not there today. Where’d it go?

    Items stay in your shopping cart for 24 hours.  After that, they are removed.
  • I’ve successfully purchased an ebook. What should I expect now?

    You should receive an email from customer.service@hbgusa.com within 5-10 minutes.  This email is your receipt and will have the link(s) to download your book(s).
  • How do I cancel an order?

    Orders cannot be canceled once completed.
  • How do I return an ebook?

    We do not except returns on digital product.  If you’re experiencing difficulties with your ebook, please consult our "Having Problems With Purchase" section below.  If you don’t find the answer to your issue, please contact Customer Service at customer.service@hbgusa.com.

Having Problems with Purchase

  • I didn’t receive my email. Now what?

    Check your junk folder or spam filter.  If you find it there, please add customer.service@hgusa.com to your approved sender list, so the issue doesn’t reoccur.
  • I didn’t receive the email and it’s not in my spam filter. Now what?

    Please contact us at 1-800-759-0190.
  • I began downloading the ebook, but it failed midway through the process. Now what?

    The link to the title will remain active for 14 days.  Please attempt to download the ebook using the link from your email receipt again.  If it’s past 14 days, please contact us at customer.service@hgusa.com
  • My eReader application is asking to activate the book. What do I do?

    Enter the email and credit card information that you used to purchase the book with.  This should activate the book.
  • My Adobe Digital Editions is asking to be authorized. What do I do?

    You will need to have a free account with Adobe. Please enter that information into Adobe Digital Editions.  To sign up for an account, please click here.
  • I purchased an Adobe ebook and downloaded the ACSM file, but my computer doesn’t know what application to open it with. What do I do?

    Your operating system is not recognizing the .acsm file extension as Adobe Digital Editions.  Please associate this file extension through your operating system.
    • For further information on doing this in Windows XP click here.
    • For Macintosh choose“get info” from the finder while the file is selected.  In the dialog that opens, select Adobe Digital Editions under the "Open with:" drop down.  If you don't see Adobe Digital Editions, select other and navigate to Adobe Digital Editions in the Applications folder.
