BEFORE PURCHASING E-BOOKS

What operating system/devices do the e-books work on?

Adobe e-books can be read on Windows & Macintosh desktops and the Sony Reader Digital Book device. Please see this page for a complete list of system requirements and devices supported.

What software do I need to download prior to purchasing an e-book?

To read Adobe e-books, you'll need to download the Adobe Digital Editions software.

Do the e-books have DRM (Digital Rights Management)?

To read Adobe e-books, you'll need to download the Adobe Digital Editions software.

Can I read my e-book on my iPhone?

No, currently Adobe Digital Editions are not able to be read on the iPhone.


PRIVACY & SECURITY

What do you do with my personal information and how do you keep my personal information secure?

We will only use your personal information to process the order. Although we do store your name and e-mail for order processing, we do not store credit card information.

How do you keep my personal information secure?

All orders are transmitted as secure encrypted transactions on secure servers. We do not store credit card information.


PURCHASING E-BOOKS

How do I purchase an e-book?

Under the cover image of a title that is available for sale, you'll see the phrase "Buy Now." We currently only sell e-book versions of the titles listed. When you click "Buy Now," it will take you to the next screen to purchase the e-book. You will be asked to fill in your e-mail and credit card information. When you submit your information, you will receive a confirmation e-mail that has the link to download the e-book. At this point, we do not offer a shopping cart or store credit card information, therefore to purchase a different e-book you will need to complete the same steps again.

What credit cards do you accept?

We accept MasterCard and Visa.

What e-book formats do you sell?

We sell the Adobe e-book formats. You'll need to download free software to download the files. Visit the Adobe site to download.

Do you sell physical books or audio books?

We currently only sell e-books on our website. To find an online retailer or bookstore near you, please go to our Where to Buy page or check the "Buy From Bookseller" button found on every book page.

Can I purchase e-books internationally?

Currently we only sell in the US and Canada. Canadian orders will be charged in US dollars.

Do you charge tax?

We charge the appropriate tax based on local, state, and federal law.

Do you charge shipping?

We do not charge shipping for digital product.

I've successfully purchased an e-book. What should I expect now?

You should receive an e-mail from customer.service@hbgusa.com within 5-10 minutes. This e-mail is your receipt and will have the link to download your e-book.

How do I cancel an order?

Orders cannot be canceled once completed.

How do I return an e-book?

We do not accept returns on digital product. If you're experiencing difficulties with your e-book, please consult our "Having Problems With Purchase" section below. If you don't find the answer to your issue, please contact Customer Service at customer.service@hbgusa.com.


HAVING PROBLEMS WITH PURCHASE

I didn't receive my e-mail. Now what?

Check your junk folder or spam filter. If you find it there, please add customer.service@hbgusa.com to your approved sender list, so the issue doesn't reoccur.

I didn't receive the e-mail and it's not in my spam filter. Now what?

Please contact us at 1-800-759-0190.

I began downloading the e-book, but it failed midway through the process. Now what?

The link to the title will remain active for 14 days. Please attempt to download the e-book using the link from your e-mail receipt again. If 14 days have passed, please contact us at customer.service@hbgusa.com.

My Adobe Digital Editions is asking to be authorized. What do I do?

You will need to have a free account with Adobe. Please enter that information into Adobe Digital Editions. To sign up for an account, please click here.

I purchased an Adobe e-book and downloaded the ACSM file, but my computer doesn't know what application to open it with. What do I do?

Your operating system is not recognizing the .acsm file extension as Adobe Digital Editions. Please associate this file extension through your operating system.

For Macintosh choose "get info" from the finder while the file is selected. In the dialog that opens, select Adobe Digital Editions under the "Open with:" drop down. If you don't see Adobe Digital Editions, select other and navigate to Adobe Digital Editions in the Applications folder.
