Hachette Book Group maintains offices for two of its imprints in Nashville, Tennessee as well as in New York. The first of these imprints, FaithWords, was launched in 2001. The program distinguished itself during the first season with titles by such bestselling authors as Karen Kingsbury, Jerry B. Jenkins, and Patsy Clairmont. The imprint’s first book, Hometown Legend, was a CBA bestseller. In the second season, Lisa Samson’s novel, Songbird, was a Christy Award winner for contemporary fiction. And later, the publisher won a Gold Medallion Award for the best gift book of the year with To A Child Love is Spelled TIME.
The program received a major boost in 2002 when it acquired the complete works of bestselling author Joyce Meyer. The house was able to increase her sales dramatically through its general trade distribution and aggressive promotion. FaithWords sells more than 2 million copies annually of Joyce’s books. The imprint’s next major achievement was Joel Osteen’s book, Your Best Life Now. This title was published in 2004 and became a national bestseller appearing on the New York Times list for more than 60 consecutive weeks and selling over four million copies.
