Homemade Bailey's Ice Cream
from Darren Shan
author of Cirque Du Freak: Book 1 In the Darren Shan Saga
The author says, "You can make this without the aid of an ice cream maker. Of course, being a half-vampire, I much prefer bat broth and skewered rat, but I guess they're an acquired taste."
Ingredients:
3 oz castor sugar
3 egg yolks
1 pint whipped cream
3 tablespoons Bailey's Irish Cream Liqueur
3 Crunchie bars (I don't know it you have "Crunchie" bars in the States -- they're a chocolate-covered bar with crispy centres; if not, you can substitute a similar type of bar, or 180grams of plain biscuits).
Method
- Cream the eggs and sugar in a large bowl.
- Add the whipped cream and stir well.
- Add the Bailey's Irish Cream Liqueur and stir well.
- Crush the Crunchie bars/biscuits, then add them to the other ingredients in the bowl and stir well.
- Pour into a suitable container. Freeze until solid. Then tuck in and enjoy!!
