Five Fun Facts

1. In To Desire a Devil, the hero, Reynaud St. Aubyn, has three geometric bird tattoos around his right eye, These tattoos are based on the Thunderbird tattoos sported by “Nicholas” one of four “Indian Kings” who visited London in 1710. Nicholas’ real name was Etow-oh-Koam and he was a Mohican.

2. A key scene in To Desire a Devil takes place in the Lords Chamber in Westminster. The benches in the Lords Chamber traditionally have red cushions while the benches in the Commons Chamber have green cushions.

3. The heroine of To Desire a Devil, Beatrice Corning, describes one of her dishes as having an ugly lopsided orange and black pagoda on it. Sadly, European fine china of this time period was rather crude and often mimicked the better made products imported from China.

4. Beatrice is quite active in politics. Although women couldn’t vote in eighteenth century England, they could influence politics, which led to several political scandals during this time period.

5. To Desire a Devil is the last book in the Legend of the Four Soldiers series. All the heroes from the first three books appear in To Desire a Devil: Sam Hartley from To Taste Temptation, Jasper Renshaw, Viscount Vale from To Seduce a Sinner, and Sir Alistair Munroe from To Beguile a Beast.
