Author Bio

Katharine is a climate scientist and geoscience professor at Texas Tech University. A Toronto native and Illinois graduate, she tells everyone she has moved to Texas to anticipate global warming!

Katharine is an author of a number of studies that examine how climate change will affect the places where we live and the things that we care about. This includes the U.S. Global Change Research Program's 2009 report on climate impacts in the United States. Her work has been featured in over two hundred newspapers and media outlets around the world, including the BBC, Discovery Channel, National Geographic, and even Sports Illustrated--not the swimsuit edition, in case anyone was wondering.

Katharine is also honored to have contributed her research to and served as an expert reviewer for the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, which was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 2007.
