Jean Hanff Korelitz is a native New Yorker, currently in exile in New Jersey, where she lives with her husband and two children, as well as a few too many dogs and cats. After growing up in Manhattan, she attended college at Dartmouth and then spent two years reading English at Clare College, Cambridge. With her husband, who is Irish, she then lived in Ireland and England for several years, before returning to the States and working briefly in publishing. Since 1988 she has been a full time writer and a part time chauffeur (i.e. parent).

Jean's published novels are A JURY OF HER PEERS (1996), THE SABBATHDAY RIVER (1999), THE WHITE ROSE (2005) and now ADMISSION (2009). She's also written a children’s novel, INTERFERENCE POWDER (2) and a book of poems, THE PROPERTIES OF BREATH (1988), and contributed essays and articles to several anthologies and many magazines
