Internships

Hachette Book Group offers paid summer internships to college students interested in a career in book publishing in our New York, Boston and Nashville offices.  Our summer internship program, which begins in early June and extends through mid to late August, offers students an opportunity to learn about the publishing industry and explore an area of interest which may include:

  • Editorial
  • Publicity
  • Art/Design
  • Production
  • Marketing
  • Sales
  • Advertising & Promotions
  • Human Resources
  • Administrative Services
  • Finance
  • Information Technology *
  • Fulfillment
  • Subsidiary Rights
  • Legal & Contracts

To enhance their work experience, interns will become familiar with all aspects of book publishing through educational sessions that feature speakers from all parts of the company. In addition, interns will have the opportunity to work in conjunction with seasoned professionals in specific fields handling day-to-day responsibilities, helping with special projects, and attending departmental meetings.

We look for students who have a passion for books, are high-energy, take initiative, possess strong communication skills, and work effectively with others. The ideal applicant should have a strong academic record and well-rounded extra-curricular interests. Previous work experience or internships are strongly preferred.

Students will be paid a competitive hourly rate. Students must also be able to make arrangements to live in the New York City, Boston, or Nashville area over the summer. We do not have an official housing program.

*IT internships are offered in our Boston office year-round. These paid internships typically last 4 to 6 months and are full time, for college credit.
