Fun Facts

1.      The hero of TO SEDUCE A SINNER is Jasper Renshaw, Viscount Vale, whose physical description closely resembles actor Hugh Laurie of TV’s HOUSE.

2.      Melisande Fleming, the heroine of TO SEDUCE A SINNER, has a little dog named Sir Mouse. Sir Mouse is a white, brown, and black terrier with button ears. Terriers were common in the Georgian period, but they wouldn’t emerge into distinct breeds (such as the Jack Russell terrier) for another fifty years or more.

3.      At the beginning of TO SEDUCE A SINNER, Viscount Vale is thrown over for a curate. In today’s terms this would be like leaving Gerard Butler for the postman.

4.      Melisande wears a purple silk domino to a masked ball in TO SEDUCE A SINNER. A domino is an enveloping cape, usually with a hood and half-mask, worn to masquerades. Dominos were usually black but they could be made in any color.

5.      In TO SEDUCE A SINNER Vale visits a prisoner in Newgate prison. On entering he passes through the Newgate entrance, above which was inscribed, VENIO SICUT FUR, which translates as I come as a thief.

"Hoyt expertly sifts a generous measure of danger into the latest intriguing addition to her Four Soldiers, Georgian-era series  . . and her ability to fuse wicked wittiness with sinfully sensual rormance is stunning."
