Article: I have spent most of...

I have spent most of my adult life in motion picture marketing. I'm the guy who would take only the best scenes and put them in trailers and TV spots, making the film look action-packed, even though in reality watching it was like reading the Manhattan telephone directory. I'm also the one who would place only the most positive words from reviewers in ads, whether misleading or not.

It is my enduring joy that I have become a writer and have shed the crass commercialism of my former life. I have rediscovered my artistic integrity and yes, my humility, and I can pursue my craft without having to act the huckster and pitch my work to the world.

This allows me to devote myself entirely to the creative process, so that I can come up with the "canny invention, snappy dialogue and startling surprises" which Kirkus commented on. It is that devotion to my work, and not to mere financial success, that will keep you readers "clamoring for more Andy Carpenter adventures", as Booklist put it.

But the most rewarding aspect of all are the relationships I've made and the incredibly talented people I've been able to associate with. When people like Harlan Coben and Margaret Maron say things like "great" and "terrific", it is a private and personal pleasure that I feel, and not something I need to proclaim to the world.

But you, the audience, know all this. Just like you know that the books are now available at stores everywhere, and that you can order online twenty four hours a day, seven days a week (which includes right this minute). You also know that if you order in large quantities from online booksellers, you can avoid paying shipping charges. And I would never insult you by stating the obvious, that the books would make wonderful gifts for all holidays and occasions.

Yes, I'm a lucky, happy man. Kirkus was right when they said that "Rosenfelt's got it all".
