An Interview with Casey Jordan

Tim: Hi Casey. First, thanks for agreeing to this, I know from the story that the media isn’t your best friend.

Casey: My pleasure. I’d say you’re not the typical reporter.

Tim: I appreciate that. Okay, are you glad to be back on the printed page? It’s been several years since people first met you in LETTER OF THE LAW.

Casey: Right, what took you so long? Seriously, I’m glad to be back. I did think it would happen sooner, though. Haven’t you sold like half a million copies of LETTER?

Tim: That’s right. I was trying to use original characters in my stories until my editor, Jamie Levine, asked me to bring back one of my favorite characters to begin a series.

Casey: And of all your past main characters, I’ve got the best legs.

Tim: True, but it had more to do with your popularity with my readers, and that you were in the first novel of mine to make the best-seller list. Also, you were my wife’s favorite character.

Casey: I like a man who talks about his wife.

Tim: I know that’s a sore subject with you. Your ex shows up in this story and doesn’t make things any easier.

Casey: I thought the divorce in LETTER would be the end of him. You know I hate everything about him, the rich prick, but I have to admit I thought it was clever the way you brought him back to salt my wounds with a defamation suit. He’s just that low. Kind of piling on by you, though. I mean, I’ve got a corrupt senator and his hired gun, the police chief trying to kill me. I’ve got CNN and the rest of them breathing down my neck, accusing me of being this insane megalomaniac, and you bring back my ex. And I thought your mind was twisted in the last book.

Tim: Speaking of men, Jose O’Brien is a new character, your ‘love interest’ so to speak. Do you think we’ll see more of you and him in coming books?

Casey: Do you?

Tim: I’d rather know what you think.

Casey: Any woman with a heartbeat would want to see more of Jose, you know that. He’s a hunk, but he’s sweet. As tough as the meanest gang-banger, but gentle when’s he’s on his best behavior.

Tim: Meaning, he sometimes isn’t?

Casey: You know Jose. He’s on edge. I love him, but he’s too unpredictable. I worry about his drinking. I could see us making it, or never talking to each other again, or anything in between. That’s off the record.

Tim: I’m sorry I don’t have more time. Thank you.

Casey: My pleasure. You better get writing.
